When the railway opened, Khlong San Station on the right bank of the Chao Phraya River was the terminal station.  However, in 1961, Khlong San Station was abolished as a measure to alleviate traffic congestion in Bangkok, and this station became a terminal instead.  Since there is no detention line to store the train, the arriving vehicle use to be next departure.  The train runs about once an hour and is crowded with passengers living in the suburbs of Bangkok in the morning and evening.
