Central Terminal Station of "State Railway of Thailand".
Known as Hua Lamphong Station.
It is a gateway from rural areas and is often used by long-distance travelers. When the railway opened (March 1897), it was located on the north side of the present, but it was relocated to its current location in June 1916. The function as the terminal central station will be transferred to Bang Sue new station in 2021.
Station building
The station building, which is covered with an arched roof designed after Frankfurt Station in Germany, is an impressive Bangkok building.
Waiting area for passengers in the station
Facilities in the station are travel information center, restaurant, food court, convenience store, railway police, etc. Toilets are charged. There is also a pay shower. The premises are quite large and the air conditioner is effective, so many passengers are relaxing here during waiting train.
Platform
This is a ground railway station with 7 platform and 14 rail lines. There is no ticket gate, so everyone can enter and leave the platform freely. Since the platform is a low-floor type, it is easy to move between platforms.The site is large and many trains come and go, so it is a place that visitor will not get tired of even if stay for a long time. Visitor can encounter several sight that cannot be seen in normal operation, such as washing and replacing trains etc.
